I’ve been an educator for over a decade and currently teach in the History Department. But before that — I was a student who struggled. I desperately wanted to succeed, spent late nights studying, and did everything “right.” And still, my grades didn’t reflect the effort I was putting in.
What I didn’t know back then is that success in school isn’t just about effort. It’s about strategy, mindset, and having the right support system — things I didn’t have access to growing up. My parents worked around the clock to provide for us, and academic coaching just wasn’t on the table.
It wasn’t until my master’s program — when I took a required course on how to study — that everything clicked. I finally had a roadmap. And once I saw what was possible, I made it my mission to help students like me unlock their potential sooner, without years of trial and error.
